Questions about My Better Plate?
- Is My Better Plate free?
- My Better Plate is in private beta right now, so access is limited to invited testers. When public access opens, there will be a free plan that lets you create an account, save recipes, plan your meals, use your grocery list, and cook from your plan at no cost, including 5 lifetime website recipe imports. Invited testers can use My Better Plate during the private beta today.
- Do I need a credit card to create an account?
- Public access to My Better Plate isn't open during private beta. When public access opens, creating and using a free account won't require a credit card. Invited testers can sign in with their authorized account today without adding a card.
- How does recipe importing work?
- Paste a recipe-page link into My Better Plate. You'll have a chance to review the imported ingredients, instructions, timing, and other details before saving it.
- What happens after I import a recipe?
- It becomes part of your Imported Recipes collection, where you can open it later or add it directly to your meal plan.
- What's included with Plus?
- Plus will cost $4.99 per month when public access opens, and it removes the free plan's 5-import lifetime limit. Both free and Plus can start up to 30 website imports in any 24 hours. Plus can't be purchased from this page during private beta; invited testers upgrade from inside My Better Plate.
- Can I use My Better Plate on my phone or tablet?
- Yes. My Better Plate is a web app designed to work across modern desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers.
- How do I manage or cancel my Plus subscription?
- You can manage your Plus subscription from the billing portal linked in your profile. Once your Plus subscription ends, your account returns to the Free plan.
- What happens to my imported recipes if I cancel?
- Your imported recipes stay in your account. You can still open them, edit them, add them to your plan, use them in your grocery list and cook from them. Only new importing changes: the free limit of 5 saved website imports applies again, and imports you saved while on Plus count toward it.
- Which imports count toward my limit?
- There are two separate things. The Free plan's 5 website imports are counted only when a recipe is actually saved — previewing a recipe or closing the review screen without saving doesn't use one, and neither does a failed import. Separately, both plans can start up to 30 imports in any 24 hours, and that pace counts every attempt, including ones that don't work out. Recipes you add by hand never count toward either.
- Which sites work for importing?
- You can import from many public recipe pages. My Better Plate uses a page's own structured recipe data when it publishes it, and reads the page itself when it doesn't. Pages behind a login or paywall, pages that block automated visits, and pages without a real recipe on them can't be imported. You'll see the recipe before you save it, so you can check it came through properly.
- Are my imported recipes private?
- Your imported recipes belong to your account. Signed-in users can access only their own imported recipes through the app, and imported recipes are not included in public recipe pages, search results, guides, the sitemap, or structured data.
