Privacy Policy

Better Plate Recipes is operated by Aaron Bennett, an individual sole proprietor. For questions about this policy or your data, write to contact@betterplaterecipes.com.

If you only browse the site. We do not ask you for anything. Our hosting and backend providers keep standard technical logs needed to operate and secure the service. This site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google and Google receives normal connection information such as your IP address and browser details — see section 4.

If you create an account. Your email address. Authentication is handled by Lovable Cloud / Supabase Auth. Your password goes directly from your browser to that service. Better Plate Recipes does not receive or store your password in any form.

What you put into the service. Recipes you save, recipes you import and the photos stored with them, meals you plan, grocery items and the items you tick off, and your planner preferences such as the day your week starts and default servings.

If you subscribe to Plus. Stripe collects and holds your payment details. No card number or security code is entered into or stored by Better Plate. We store your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and the status of that subscription.

Signing in with Google. If you choose Continue with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with our sign-in service, which keeps them as part of your login. Better Plate uses the email address held by our sign-in service for your account and stores your name in your Better Plate profile if Google provides it. We do not copy your Google profile picture into your Better Plate profile. We never receive your Google password.

Automatic technical records. To enforce the usage limits described in our Terms, we keep a small per-account usage counter for recipe imports and for read-aloud. These are counters, not a log of what you read, cooked, or planned.

We do not run analytics. Better Plate Recipes does not use analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies. There is no analytics platform, tag manager, advertising pixel, session-replay tool, or third-party analytics SDK anywhere on this site. We do not build an advertising profile of you, and we do not track you across other websites.

We use your information to:

• give you an account and keep you signed in;
• store and show you your saved recipes, plans, and grocery lists;
• run the import and read-aloud features when you use them;
• take payment and manage your subscription;
• enforce the usage limits described in our Terms;
• send you account emails, such as confirming your address, resetting your password, or changing the email on your account;
• respond when you contact us;
• keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. Better Plate Recipes does not use your content to train AI models.

Lovable Cloud / Supabase — hosting, database, file storage, and authentication. Your account, your saved content, and your uploaded recipe images are stored here. This provider’s built-in mail service also sends our account emails, such as address confirmation, password reset, and email-change messages, and therefore receives your email address when those are sent.

Stripe — payment processing. When you subscribe or manage billing, you are taken to a page hosted by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. Stripe acts as its own controller for payment data and applies its own privacy policy.

Google (Gemini API) — recipe import. When you import a recipe, the text of the page you chose is sent to Google’s Gemini API so it can be read and turned into a structured recipe. We send that request with the provider’s no-storage option enabled. Google’s own terms govern how it handles the request; we cannot make commitments on Google’s behalf.

Lovable AI gateway — read-aloud. When you use natural read-aloud while signed in, the text of the recipe step is sent through this gateway, which generates speech using an AI voice. That live audio is streamed back to your browser and is not stored by us. For the signed-out recipe demo, the first two cooking steps use prerecorded AI-generated voice clips stored and served as site assets; playing those demo clips does not send the step to the AI voice service. Read-aloud uses an AI-generated voice, not a human recording. When your browser’s or device’s built-in speech is used instead, the text is handled by your browser or device and is not sent to Better Plate’s AI voice service.

Google Fonts — the site loads its typefaces from Google’s font service on every page. Your browser contacts Google to retrieve them, which exposes normal connection information such as your IP address and browser details to Google. No cookie is set by this.

Our AI providers process content only to return the result we requested. Their own terms govern their handling of that data.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

We use only what the service needs to work.

Authentication and session information, and a small number of functional preferences, may be stored in cookies or in your browser’s storage. These keep you signed in, keep your saved recipes available when you return, and remember interface choices such as whether read-aloud is switched on and which parts of the grocery list you have collapsed.

None of this is used for advertising or analytics.

Stripe sets its own cookies on the checkout and billing pages it hosts. Those are Stripe’s pages and Stripe’s cookies; we set nothing there.

We keep your account and its contents for as long as your account exists.

We keep a small per-account usage counter for as long as your account exists so usage limits can be enforced. It is removed when the account is deleted.

Copies of data may persist temporarily in routine system backups. Backups are managed by our hosting provider on its own schedule.

Stripe retains records of payments under its own policies, and we may be required to keep payment and tax records.

Write to contact@betterplaterecipes.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will verify the request came from you before we act on it. There is currently no self-service delete button and no automated data export; both are handled by us on request.

We will delete your profile, your saved and imported recipes and the images stored with them, your meal plan, your grocery data, your usage counters, and your account-linked billing customer, subscription, and checkout records. We will also remove your sign-in identity and cancel any active subscription with our payment provider.

We commit to completing verified deletion requests within 30 days, and in practice we expect to complete them much sooner.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Limited operational records may remain where they no longer identify you, including a record that a deletion took place and payment-system event records that carry no user identifier. The backup, payment-provider, and legal-retention points in section 6 also apply.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you;
• ask for a copy of it;
• ask us to correct it;
• ask us to delete it;
• object to or restrict how we use it.

You can manage some account settings yourself, including changing your password and resetting a forgotten one. For anything else — access, a copy of your data, correction, or deletion — write to contact@betterplaterecipes.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, write to contact@betterplaterecipes.com and we will delete it.

Your password never reaches our servers; it is handled entirely by our authentication provider. Card details never reach our servers either. Photos stored with your own recipes are held in a private location and served through temporary links available only to you, and your saved recipes, plans, and grocery data are restricted to your account at the database level.

No service can promise perfect security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will act on it and notify you where the law requires.

The service and its providers operate in the United States. If you use the service from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States.

We may update this policy. If we make a material change we will update the effective date at the top. Where the change is significant, we will tell you.
